long post since I haven't had internet!

So Sunday, we got up and drove to Sevilla, normally you can take the”fast train” which would take 2 hours to get from Madrid to Sevilla, but its cheaper to bus it over with all of us kids so about 6 or 7 hours later we finally made it to Sevilla! We basically got here and went to our new home.

My host mom is name Maribel and she is really nice. She made me feel very comfortable and she sounds like she is going to be a great and active mom. She still emails her first student which was about 8 or 9 years ago so that must mean that she was a great host if they still talk. She is in her 50’s and has a boyfriend named Diego who is also very nice. They are very patient with us and speak slower for us but they do not understand English at all. I’ve been really feeling good because my Spanish is doing very well here, even better than my roomie’s which always gives ya a boost because I thought I was the bad one. But we live in an apartment, in a small small SMALL room together but its nice. We get our own bathroom and the apartment is very big. But VERY cold. Electricity and water is very expensive in Spain so you have to conserve. We don’t get internet here which is a bummer but I will have a working phone with internet soon so that will be nice. In the meantime, I will write at night and post blogs when I get to the University.

We also live on the 7th floor and go figure the elevator is not working, so here we are with 50+lb suitcase lugging it up 7 flights of stairs….mmm ugh was not fun at all. We haven’t seen much of Sevilla yet but tomorrow we will get a tour of the city.

So picture time a little bit....

this one I just freaked out about because on the way from Toledo to sevilla, there was this HUGEEEEEE solar panel farm and i think its just awesome to have seen, so I made sure to get a photo with the company's name so I can geek out later & do some research on it.

this is just something we walked by in Sevilla

Some new friends && cafe con leche (coffee with milk) GOOD stuff!

part of our room

our closet

TINY bathroom which we have to go into the kitchen, turn on the gas && light the pilot light and then we get hot water, old system

part of the view from our room...LOOK solar panels again!

The cathedral..the biggest one in Spain. It took 150 years to build && it was beautiful!

the bell tower...we walked all the way up (34 flights of ramps to the top!)

This is Christopher Columbus' Tomb

So nothing new has really happened since we moved in, other than most things going wrong for me. I'm sick now which hasn't made it easy but I'm trying to tough it out and still see the sights.

The university that I'm going to is Universidad Pablo de Olvide (UPO) and its outside of the city so we have to take the metro to it. I am taking 3 spanish courses && 1 Global Economy course in English. The classes are going to be a piece of cake & its nice that there is no classes on Fridays ever. The university is mostly Americans actually && the campus is kind of ugly but we have Intercambios which are exchanges between Spaniards and Americans, so we can learn Spanish and they can practice English, which will be great to help me learn Spanish better!!

I'm frustrated with how much has gone wrong since I;ve been here but my mom is a great support and listener to all my venting & I hope things turn around soon.

Oh and its feels just like how on the west side....all DRIZZLE ughhh it needs to go away!
